(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Rallies are expected in a number of cities, including Tel Aviv, Saturday evening.
Protest organizers say they anticipate large turnouts as Netanyahu has so far failed to take necessary steps to curb high costs of living that have contributed to deep social inequalities.
“More than ever before, we need to hit the streets to prove we won't be stopped if change doesn't happen. Such a large protest movement is a one-time occurrence. I don't know when an opportunity like this will come again, so we can't afford to miss it,” said Stav Shaffir, one of the protest leaders.
“He [Netanyahu] needs to understand that it's either do something or get out of the way,” Shaffir added.
Israel was rocked by weeks of protest rallies against Netanyahu's cabinet, exposing a deep frustration among the entity's middle-class over the mismanagement of the economy.
The demonstrations erupted in mid-July after activists began setting up tents in Tel Aviv. It then spread quickly to other cities.
Some demonstrators also expressed opposition to the Israeli regime's illegal settlement expansions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The demonstrations came to a halt on August 18 when Tel Aviv launched a series of airstrikes in Gaza following attacks near the Red Sea resort of Eilat in southern Israel, which left at least eight Israelis dead and dozens of others injured.
